Pastor Biermann's Message
On Saturday, the people of Glendale will gather for a very significant time of worship. What will bring us together for this special worship is not a festival but a funeral. Funerals are hard. The tears, the sadness, the hurt, the finality of a funeral are not pleasant. Death is not a good thing. Death is never a good thing. It is an abrupt and tragic invasion of life and a disruption in God's good plans. But, in spite of the distasteful and hated reality of death and the damage it brings, we come together eagerly and expectantly to worship on Saturday. We come because this is what Christians do when one of their brothers dies, and when that brother in Christ is also the shepherd of the flock, the importance of our time together in worship is all the more important. It is important that we come together to hear God's Word proclaimed. It is important that we come to encourage and comfort Julie and all of Pastor Wise's family with our presence, our words, our touches, and our prayers. It is important that we build up one another by together facing the hard reality of death with the certain promises of God. It is important that we give thanks to God for those promises and thank him also for the gift of Pastor Wise and his faithful proclamation of God's promises to this congregation. It is important that we are living and acting as the people of God, intently focused on our certain Christian hope, and proclaiming that hope to the world around. Christ has triumphed. The horror of the grave has been destroyed. Death is not the end. Resurrection is our certain, guaranteed, hope. This is what we confess. This is why we worship together on Saturday.
No Saturday Evening Service This Weekend
There will be no 5:00pm evening worship this Saturday, March 25.
Faith Formation Ministry

Bible Class and Sunday School
Join us as we grow in our faith and knowledge of God's word.

Stewardship Sentence
Psalm 142:5 - I cry to you, O LORD; I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living." The Lord is our portion, our refuge, our everything. His mercy preserves through all our days in the land of the living. This confidence frees us from the fear that so often leads to sins of greed and coveting. We have the Lord, we have a Father, He is in control - so we can follow His Word in confidence.
Easter Breakfast
Our annual Easter Breakfast will be held Easter Sunday, April 16! This is a joyous occasion for our church and a wonderful meal together. Please see the sign-up poster on the kiosk to volunteer breakfast items. We appreciate your help!
Easter Eggs To Be Filled
In preparation for the Palm Sunday Fair on April 9, the eggs for the hunt need to be filled. Please help out by taking one or more bags from the basket outside the church office. Each bag has approximately 30 eggs in it. The eggs need to be returned to a basket which will be marked "Filled Eggs" by Wednesday, April 5. We will have the egg hunt inside as we did last year if the weather is not good. Thanks for your help!
Easter Lilies
Easter lily orders are now being taken. Call or email the church office, or use the bright green order form in your mailbox. As in the past, the price per lily is $7.50. Orders must be received by Monday, April 10.
Internet Broadcast of Worship Services AND Bible Class
As you are aware, we have broadcast worship services for many years and, more recently, started to broadcast our Sunday morning Bible classes through our church web site. Thanks to the generous underwriting of members donating a specified amount to make these broadcasts "ad free," we have seen a dramatic increase in viewers. Sometimes during the time of the service we have had three or four viewers. Other services as well as Bible classes have received 14 to 20 views from the web site archives. Any past event can be viewed by accessing our church web site glendalelutheranchurch.org and then clicking on the orange button labeled "Live worship webcast". You will be immediately connected to a live broadcast, if the time is right, or immediately connected to all stored videos. Select and click on the one you would like to review and it will stream for you. (You will need Adobe Flash Player--a free download that many people already have on their computers.)

Farewell to the Millers
John and Ellen Miller have been teaching and conducting young musicians in the Lutheran South Instrumental Music Program and the LHSS Elementary Band Program since 1998. As the Millers retire at the close of the 2016-2017 school year, we invite you to join them at their last concerts, acknowledging their service, dedication, and commitment to excellence.
