Pastor Scott's Message
The last Glimpses of the year is a great time to look back, look around and look forward. This year has been a huge blessing for me and my family. We would like to thank all of our Glendale family for the love and faith you share. God has given our church so much and we are grateful. Sunday mornings are full of praise and adoration. The Bible class has been a delightful time of growth. You generously gave to seminary students and shut-ins during Advent. The church's finances are healthy. The preschool is filled with little ones and teachers who love Jesus. I work with a talented organist in Jim and a dedicated administrative assistant in Michelle.

It's exciting to celebrate with my first Christmas with you. The word of the Lord stands forever. The Father promised us a Savior and he kept his pledge. The Lord is good and faithful and December 25th reminds us. May this Christmas fill you with all of the good things from God.

The future is bright. I know you are crazy busy but I want you to set aside a date in January. On the last Saturday in January the 27, we are going to brainstorm at Glendale.  Matthew Miller from the Lutheran Foundation is leading us in Asset Mapping. We will seek the Lord's direction by assessing the gifts and talents amongst us. We need Leadership Council members and elders, of course.  But we also need unofficial difference makers. We are calling out anyone who loves this church to join us.  It will be in the Family Life center from 9am to 11am. It will be a new year with a new direction.
Daily Bible Readings

Altar Flowers
The 2018 Altar Flower Chart is hanging by the office. Please take a moment after church to sign up. An arrangement is a great way to honor or remember a loved one, birthday, anniversary, graduation, new baby, or whatever the occasion. We are using Kirkwood Florist and Walter Knoll Florist. Arrangements cost $40-$45 depending on flowers chosen.

Thank you do everyone who signed up last year. If you have any questions, please call Beverly Dixson at 314-822-2899.
Year-End Contributions
Please remember to keep Glendale in your thoughts with end of year tax planning. Contributions through the end of December may be included as deductions for this current tax year.

Our Mortgage on our New Building Still Exists
Because of the unfolding new tax regulations or because of any other reason you are considering a special end-of-the-year gift this year, consider a special gift to Glendale to reduce the mortgage still owed on our new building.  Now is a great time to help reduce that!

Women's Tuesday Bible Study
Women's Tuesday Bible Study is beginning again on Tuesday, January 9 at 9:15am. You are welcome to join us as we begin the study "Jesus the One and Only" by Beth Moore. This is a great group of women and we would love to have you join us!
Notes from the Music Director
  • Rather than printing the words of the choir and soloist numbers each Sunday, a copy of actual music will be placed where the bulletins are found in the rear of the church. Please return the music following the service.
  • Thanks to Jerry Nicolaus for purchasing and installing a much needed shelving arrangement for choir folders.
Shut-in Christmas Bags - Thank You!
Thanks to everyone who "Shopped Local" this year for our shut-in Christmas bags. It's always fun to try something new and we appreciate your support. Also thanks to those who delivered bags--that too is much appreciated!

$$$ for Doors Update
To date we have received a bit over $7,100 specified for this exciting project. Thank you to all those members who have provided the extra help to get this project completed
Since the lead time is extensive for these custom sized doors, an order has been placed this week. (We will also avoid a 10% price increase to go into effect in January.) Doors are expected to be delivered sometime in March of next year. Doors will be in three panels that , when desired, will open outwardly and completely to leave an open area.
We look forward with some optimism as we continue to consider the possibilities for the "Rose Garden" that result from replacing the failed and cloudy windows that have been a barrier to this area.
