Pastor Scott's Message
This week's sermon is on "Glory to God Alone." Father, Son and Holy Spirit are the only ones who deserve our worship and praise. We understand worship to include corporate non-corporate. We praise God corporately when we come together on a Sunday morning for Word and Sacrament. We worship non-corporately the rest of the week. We worship God when we live our life for Jesus.

We give Glory to God for the opportunities he gives us to serve him. I want you to consider a new opportunity, service to those who have experienced disaster in Texas. We are recruiting individuals who can travel to Texas for a week in January to do the Lord's work. Bill Lubben has been trained in disaster response ministry and will head up the trip. We are looking to drive to Texas on a Sunday and return six days later on Saturday. That will give us 5 days to help people through encouragement, witness and light labor.

Pray about this opportunity. Not everyone is called to this ministry, but you won't know unless you ask the Lord. I led a trip like this to Baton Rouge last year to help flood victims. God ministered to me more than I ministered to the people there. I got to see the church in action. I got to see the Gospel lived out. I got to see the Glory of God.  Contact Pastor Scott if you sense God's calling.

Books & Bread Outreach
Let's bless our 100 CCLS Glendale preschool families and staff again this Thanksgiving with "Books and Bread." Sign up on the kiosk in the church lobby to let us know how many loaves of sweet breads you would like to bake.

What you need to know:
  • Sign up letting us know how many loaves of sweet bread you would like to make
  • Take the provided labels (that will be near the sign-ups) to put on your bread
  • Bring your loaves to church on Sunday, November 19th or arrange with Sue Schultz to deliver them early
  • Pray for our outreach efforts that they may be a blessing for the givers and the receivers
If you have any questions or would like to help, contact Sue Schultz at 314-304-0556.
Lancer Singers at GLC
The Lancer Singers from Lutheran High School South will add their musical gifts to our worship service on Sunday, November 19. Faith Jonas is a member of the ensemble. Mark your calendars and plan to enjoy their special music at this service.

Doors and Windows
Those of you that have attended any gathering in the Family Life center perhaps have noticed that the seals on the double pane windows that open onto the "Rose Garden" have been compromised. This is something that has been worsening over the past few years and has created a "fog" between the two panes of glass. This can only be remedied by replacement and monies for the effort have been approved in this year's expense budget.

Having said all that, those who have been given the responsibility for the upkeep of our campus property began to think of an alternate and, perhaps, better solution. The "Rose Garden" is a space that could find new life if we had better access. Karen Frimel and Paul Barbercheck have agreed to help us create a vision of what a renewed exterior space might look like and what multipurpose activities it might support. Regardless of what vision we as a congregation ultimately agree to adopt, the first and certainly essential step in the process is to create that better access to the area. We need to replace one or both of the current window walls with large doorways. Money spent to replace windows would be money foolishly spent.

The challenge: doors cost more than windows. We are in the process of looking at multiple vendors and assessing the added cost. In the meantime, we will be creating an opportunity for those who might want to support this effort financially. You can designate monies to a "Dollars for Doors" campaign.
