A Message from Dr. Biermann
At last, the big day is almost upon us. Tuesday Americans vote...finally. But, before you sigh with relief that the campaign and the advertisements are finished, be sure to fulfill your responsibility: vote. For a Christian, voting is not an option. It's part of your responsibility as a citizen of this nation. There is much more to say about that, and so many other things involving the relationship that a Christian has with the country, and that the church has with the state. Perhaps I'll have the chance to explore some of those important and interesting truths in future Bible classes. For now, though, let me offer a few thoughts as you prepare to cast your ballot.

When you vote, you are participating in the governance of the world. God cares very much about how this world is ruled and whether or not his will is honored and upheld. Your vote needs to reflect that will of God, his law for the creation summed up in the Ten Commandments. In other words, the most important thing for you to consider when making a decision about candidates or amendments or propositions is how God's law will best be upheld and advanced.

Living in a fallen world, there will rarely be a candidate or a proposition that gets God's law exactly right. In fact, sometimes you are compelled to choose between options that both seem far from satisfactory. These realities are hardly surprising in a broken world. In such situations, Christians do what they always do: aware of the sinfulness of the world, yet conscious of their need to engage that world with God's truth, they vote for the people and the ideas that seem most likely to more nearly follow God's law. Sometimes, of course, they can only vote for what they hope will cause the least violation of God's will! It is not an easy responsibility, and there is much to consider and much that is unclear. What is clear, though, is that Christians do not vote for what will serve themselves. The question is never, "How can I vote to make my life better?" The question must be: "How can I vote to honor and advance the law of God?" So, on Tuesday, get to the polls, and vote for the law of God.

One Family Bible Class
Dr. Biermann leads the Bible Class this morning in the Family Life Center. Grab a cup of coffee and join us.

Sunday School
Preschool through 1st grade children will meet in the lower level of the Parish House (under the gym). Grades 2 through 6 will meet in the lower level of the new building across from the elevator, room 012. High School youth will gather in the Youth Room. Confirmation class for 7th and 8th grade youth will be in the conference room next to Pastor's office, room 113.

Stewardship Sentence
Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." You only hunger and thirst for what you don't have. Jesus has come to fill us up with righteousness - His own righteousness. He is the self-giving Lord whose sacrifice inspires us to be givers, too.

Pastoral Care
If you need pastoral care for any reason, don't hesitate to contact the church office or one of the vacancy pastors directly. Pastor Biermann will be at the church on Monday and Thursday mornings most weeks, and Pastor Erkkinen is available on campus on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Books & Bread Outreach
Plans are well underway to again bless our 75 CCLS Glendale preschool families this Thanksgiving with "Books and Bread." We're now halfway to the number of loaves we'll need! Check out the kiosk in the church lobby and add your name to the list!

What you need to know:
  • Sign up letting us know how many loaves of sweet bread you would like to make
  • Take the provided labels (that will be near the sign-ups) to put on your bread
  • Bring your loaves to church on Sunday, November 20th or arrange with Sue Schultz to deliver them early
  • Pray for our outreach efforts that they may be a blessing for the givers and the receivers
If you have any questions or would like to help, contact Sue Schultz at 314-304-0556. Thank you!
