Pastor Scott's Message  We are on the home stretch of our sermon series on Genesis. I hope you've been stretched by God's word as I have. Through the 16 weeks we have witnessed the creation of the world, Adam and Eve's fall, Abel's murder, the idolatry of Babel, the flood's reset of creation, God's new covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and Joseph's restoration. There are foundational truths in there. God made everything good because he is full of life and love. But creation had a mind of its own and rebelled. God had a plan to restore the world but it would take millennia to complete. First, he had to show us that the life, death, and resurrection of his son was the only way that solves our problem. Stamping down sin doesn't solve our problem. Adam and Eve were thrown out of the Garden, but they took their sin with them. The people of Babel were dispersed but that just spread their destruction. The flood wiped the earth clean, but Noah's family continued sinful habits. God chose one man and woman, Abraham and Sara, to focus all of his life and love. They still messed up as did their descendants. They weren't any better than unchosen people. Something or someone else was needed. That's where we are at the end of Genesis. The world needs a Savior. We needed God himself to come down and show us how to be human again. Jesus came and gave life and love. But our sinfulness made us attack him. We couldn't stand someone so holy and righteous. He took the hate stored up in creation upon him. But then he rose from the dead with the world's hate vanquished. Thank you, God, for saving creation and showing us your beautiful plan from the beginning. |

After three years of Army life, I have often wondered what some of my friends are doing...you have answered some of these questions...a lot has happened in the old town...the growth, lot of houses went up, lot of change since I got a glimpse of Glendale...thank you for the time and effort you are putting in to give us some of the personal touches of the best town in the best state in the best country in the world! The quilt hanging by the Cry Room in the Sanctuary is on loan from former members Terry and Junette Higgins and their family Lisa and Corey. It was lovingly stitched by the ladies of Glendale and was presented to them when they moved away to California in 1986. |

Yard Work Volunteer Wanted We are looking for a volunteer to maintain the boxwood bushes on our campus. Bushes should be trimmed as necessary (2 to 3 times per year). It is estimated to take two to three hours to trim. We will provide a cordless trimmer unless you prefer to use you own. Please let Michelle know if you are willing to take responsibility for this seasonal task. |
