Pastor Scott's Message I was asked recently, "What is my vision for Glendale Lutheran?" I waited to reply. It is a fair question but a deep one. I could have simply stated the great commission, "Go therefore into all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit." Jesus gives that vision to all churches. But I think that is assumed. The real question is how are we going to live out the great commission here at this place and time.
I could have listed my hopes and dreams for Glendale but they are many and scattered. Plus, though I am the Pastor, God may have a vision for our church that is bigger than my hopes and dreams. The real answer is that we will discover God's vision together. We've started that process already. We've worshipped together, studied the word together, shared our stories and invested our lives. Everyone in this church is a part of Christ's body and plays a function. We are trying to figure out how this body walks amongst our neighbors. On January 27th from 9am to 11am we will start writing down our vision. It's called asset mapping. We will assess all of the gifts God has given his people who gather at 1365 N. Sappington. Then we will create ways in which we could use those assets to bless others. God has given us everything we need to complete his vision. But you need to be there because God speaks to you and has given you insight into our church and our community. We need everyone who cares about this church and God's work to join us. It is important and will guide our ministry decisions. It is thrilling to figure out how God is using us. |
