Glimpses of Glendale
Glendale Lutheran Church Newsletter
September 29, 2021
Glendale Lutheran and Christ Community Lutheran School are partners in ministry. We host and they teach kids the Gospel as well as how to read, social and life skills. Monday through Friday eighty children are nurtured by twenty adults on our grounds. This Sunday we get to celebrate collaborating in the work of God.

Pastor Matthew Hoehner, the executive director of CCLS, will preach. Janet Leet, the principal at Webster, will do the children’s message. Then in Bible class, Pastor Hoehner will share a presentation on CCLS as a whole.

This year’s CCLS theme is Faith, Hope and Love from 1 Corinthians 13:13. You may remember this from our sermon series several weeks ago. Paul describes the love of God and then says, “The greatest of these is love.” Faith and hope are temporary. In the new heaven and earth there is no faith or hope because all of the promises of God are realized. Only love is forever. I hope you know that Glendale Lutheran and CCLS are creating a loving environment in which lives can be transformed for eternity. See you Sunday and stay for the presentation. Sunday school is provided for the kids.

Voters' Meeting

A Voters’ Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, October 17, 2021, immediately following service to elect Leadership Council and Elders. Additionally, we may ask the congregation to vote one or more bequest fund expenditure requests. We will provide more detail in the coming weeks on Leadership Council and Elder candidates and on our bequest fund expenditure requests but wanted to make sure everyone has the opportunity to mark their calendars so they can plan on attending the Meeting.
Deacons

If you need to talk to a fellow believe, email or email or call Pastor Scott or one of these deacons: Cathie Albers (cathleenalbers@charter.net), Joel Hempel (jhempel411@gmail.com), Marcia Hempel (mshempel11@att.net), Bob Jacobson (rjacobson@hy-c.com), or Tony Petzoldt (tonypetzoldt@sbcglobal.net).

Leadership Council Nominations

The Leadership Council is accepting nominations for the Council to consider to replace Council members whose terms are expiring in October. This year there are two members whose terms will be coming to an end. Please let anyone on Leadership Council, the Elders, or Pastor Scott know if there is anyone you would like to nominate who you believe would make a good leader for our Congregation. The Leadership Council will review those nominations at its September meeting and provide recommendations in advance of our October 2021 Voters’ Meeting.
