Glimpses of Glendale
Glendale Lutheran Church Newsletter
October 7, 2021
This month we have a unique opportunity to multiply our generosity to the poor and needy. Money that you give to Glendale Lutheran for Christian Friends of New Americans before October 31st will be doubled by the Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis.

Christian Friends of New Americans is a LCMS organization that reaches new immigrants who are becoming US citizens. Glendale Lutheran has put together a team of people who are volunteering with CFNA. On October 21st, our team will visit the Peace center where CFNA tutors kids and helps families. We are hoping that our visit will focus our vocation to these new immigrants and especially the Afgans. The team met a couple of Sundays ago. Those who have offered their help is Cathie Albers, Marcia Hempel, Andrea Anderson, the Boehmes, the Aubles, the DeBords, the Frimels, the Chapas, and Ryan.

At our October 17th voters meeting, the council is recommending that we donate at least $10,000 from Bequest funds to CFNA. Ultimately the voters decide to give more or less. It’s exciting to think what God will do with double that money. Give generously because God has been generous to you.

Voters' Meeting

A Voters’ Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, October 17, 2021, immediately following the service. Our primary agenda item will be to elect Leadership Council Members. Michael Barbercheck and John Lee have been nominated to serve three-year terms. None of our Elders’ terms are expiring so our elections will not include the Elder positions.

Additionally, we will ask the Congregation to vote on bequest fund expenditure recommendations. These recommendations will include contributing to the Christian Friends of New Americans ministry, providing loan assistance to Missionary David Baker and his family for a worship building purchased in Mongolia, and funding urgent roof repair work. Finally, we will update the Congregation on playground developments and our carillon purchase.

Please plan on attending the Meeting to vote on our Leadership Council candidates and bequest fund recommendations and to learn about our playground and carillon developments.
