Glimpses of Glendale
Glendale Lutheran Church Newsletter
October 14, 2021
Octoberfest is this Saturday at 6pm in the courtyard, after worship. Sandy Barbercheck and Tony Petzoldt have organized a good time around brats and beer. Bring a beverage of your own to share.

The Lutheran church Missouri Synod started from German roots. In the 19th century, Lutherans left Germany because the state was imposing their authority over the church. They came in three boats, bringing their traditions, heritage and faith.

My guess is that most of us at Glendale Lutheran are not predominantly German. The great thing about the church is that we are a second family through Jesus Christ. It doesn’t matter your country of origin or ancestry to be accepted in this family. All you need is to be baptized and believe. This frees us to celebrate the good things that have been passed down to us from our faith forebearers, and to set aside the bad things they passed down. Our faith is built on nothing less the Jesus Christ. Come eat and catch up with God’s family at Glendale.
Voters' Meeting

A Voters’ Meeting is scheduled for this Sunday, October 17, 2021, immediately following the service. Our primary agenda item will be to elect Leadership Council Members. Michael Barbercheck and John Lee have been nominated to serve three-year terms. None of our Elders’ terms are expiring so our elections will not include the Elder positions.

Additionally, we will ask the Congregation to vote on bequest fund expenditure recommendations. These recommendations will include contributing to the Christian Friends of New Americans ministry, providing loan assistance to Missionary David Baker and his family for a worship building purchased in Mongolia, and funding urgent roof repair work. Finally, we will update the Congregation on playground developments and our carillon purchase.

Please plan on attending the Meeting to vote on our Leadership Council candidates and bequest fund recommendations and to learn about our playground and carillon developments.
