This Sunday is a special voters meeting after church. The council will present their proposal for a new playground. A year ago, I presented this idea to the leadership and God has run with it. Jerry Nicolaus did preliminary due diligence. We contacted CCLS and brought them on board. At the October voters meeting, Derek Don, a landscape architect, volunteered his expertise. Kelly Climer offered to write a grant proposal to the Lutheran Foundation.
Since then, a committee of Derek, Kelly, Myself, Jerry, Rod Nobis, Paul Barbercheck and Beth Kiessling, the CCLS campus manager pursued the project. We received bids from six companies and narrowed it down to three. The bids ranged from $94,000 to $200,000. We chose Hutchinson playgrounds which is a local company that sells Miracle brand equipment. Beth and I adjusted the playground equipment to best suit our kids. We now have a beautiful plan for new sub flooring, turf, two main playground structures and shade at a cost of around $120,000.
CCLS has agreed to pay $52,500 towards the equipment. The grant from the Lutheran Foundation was approved. Some of our money will be matched. Thank you to everyone who has worked on this proposal and God bless our voters meeting. I’m very proud of work God’s doing in our congregation.
