In Christ Alone - Bible Study of Philippians

Continuing in the Youth Room, this week we see how, as Christians, our identity is in Christ Alone. This Bible study is not only for youth who are attending the National Youth Gathering and their families, it is for all who wish to benefit from this study of Philippians and come to a fuller understanding of how our entire lives are found in Christ Alone.

One Family Bible Class
For the month of April, Seminarian Nate McCarty will be leading the adult Bible class in the Family Life Center. This week we study Luke 7 where sinful woman anoints Jesus' feet. From this we learn of God's free mercy and that we should respond with acts of love and praise.
Stewardship Sentence

John 10:27 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." On their own sheep are in great danger. They need a shepherd to guide them. The sheep know the Shepherd's voice - and we delight to go where He leads. Of course, the world, the devil, and our own sinful flesh want to pull us in another direction. Namely, they want to pull us in the direction of death. But following the Shepherd means life. So no matter how difficult the path is that the Shepherd points out: let us follow Him!
Women's Evening Bible Study
The Thursday evening Bible study began a new study on February 18. The study guide is "God's Love Through You: A Guide to 1 John." All women are welcome; gathering together is a great opportunity to share prayer concerns and be strengthened by God's Work and by each other. Eighteen women currently are a part of this group; not all can attend every time and that is understood. We meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7:00pm.

Women's Tuesday Morning Bible Study
Beginning Tuesday, February 23 at 9:15am we started a new seven week Bible study. Please consider joining us as we explore "Discerning the Voice of God" presented by Priscilla Shirer. Through this study you will become more familiar with God's Holy Spirit, His character, language, and tone of voice. Call Carol Froesel or Jeanne Clark if you have any questions.

Outreach

VBS Registration Now Open
Registration is now open for children age 3 through 6th grade. VBS is June 6-10 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $25 which covers all costs, including t-shirts. Registration is limited to 150 students. To register, go to www.glendalelutheranchurch.org and click on the Barnyard Roundup logo.
VBS Volunteers Needed
Be a part of the Barnyard Roundup and help God's children learn that Jesus gathers us together, calls us by name, and loves us now and forever. If you can help full or part time, we have many ways to be involved to suit your schedule and interests. Visit our website (www.glendalelutheranchurch.org) and click on the Barnyard Roundup logo to sign up to be a volunteer, or sign up using a Barnyard Roundup Volunteer Registration Form on the shelf in front of the mailboxes outside the Family Life Center. When complete, place the form in the VBS mailbox outside the church office.

Vision Task Force Survey Results

Results from the congregational vision survey will be presented immediately following the April 17 Sunday morning church service by the Vision Task Force. We all would be pleased to see you there. Our presentation will be on the brief side (under 20 minutes maximum) including a bit of time for questions about the survey. We promise that you will find the results interesting and, we hope, helpful.

Confirmation Sunday

Sunday, May 1 is Confirmation Sunday. Please pray for our confirmands: Lillian Conger, Miles Sauer, Sarah Skouby, Brian Skouby, Abbie Schultz, Layton Wille, Luke Schultz, and Grace Ortstadt.

Women's Bible Study Breakfast Potluck

Membership Class

Interested in becoming a member of Glendale Lutheran Church? Or are you already a member and just want to brush up on basic doctrine and teaching? A four week membership class will begin on Sunday, May 8 during the Bible class hour (beginning approximately 10:30 a.m. following the church service). We will meet in room 211 (the corner meeting room upstairs with the preschool). Child care will be provided if needed. Contact Pastor Wise with questions.

Calling All Crafters!

We will be hosting another craft fair this fall on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M  All kinds of crafts are needed to make the fair a success.  If you have a special talent that you would like to showcase, here is your chance.  All money's collected from the sale will be used for the repair of the organ. We understand that this repair will require the removal of all the pipes to get to the problem area.   If you plan to donate to the fair please let the Nifty Knitters and the Clever Crocheters know what you have in mind.  Place your ideas for donations in Sally Dobrunz's box. Thanks in advance for your donations.

Children's Worship Materials
We are looking for someone to take charge of the children's worship materials at the back  of the church. This would entail periodically checking the bags to ensure each is stocked with paper, crayons, etc. If you are interesting in serving this way, please contact the church office.
