Pastor Scott's Message
Our 75th Anniversary Celebration weekend blew me away. It was two days of reunions, introductions, food, laughter, remembrances and thanksgiving. Thank you Pastor Steve Albers and the 75th anniversary committee: Carol Froesel, Jeanne Clark, Sally Dobrunz, Beth Nicolaus, Cathie Albers, Miriam Lee, Sue Schultz, Jack Bentzinger, Joan Schlichter, Karen Frimel, Lisa Grossenheider, and Phyllis Phelps. Your hard work enabled God's people at Glendale to come together in joy.
I also want to thank our guest speakers: Rev. Rick Marrs, Rev. Ed Arle, Jolene Siebarth, and Jim Lohman. They all testified to God's faithfulness during their time here. Thank you to J. McGraugh's bar and grill for catering the event.
If you had a hard time hearing my devotion, here it is in a nutshell. Our church motto is Serving Christ, Serving Others. I noticed last week that the Lord serves us when we serve Him. In ways we don't anticipate. I had a CCLS preschool mom in my office to talk about baptizing her son, Walter. My mindset was this is a time for me to serve her. I will lead a conversation about God's forgiveness through the water and the word. I will explore ways we can bless them. At the end of the conversation, she said that she had a cute story to tell. Her older son, Henry, who is also in our preschool, was asked what he wanted to be for Halloween. He thought about it and said, "I want to be Pastor Scott for Halloween because he is a hero too." I have never received as great a compliment and encouragement of my ministry. Henry loves this place so much that he wants to be the person he sees in Chapel. Henry feels the love and the joy of Jesus and wants to be a part of it. I get the chills just thinking about it. I served Christ and He served me through this preschool family.
Continue to serve one another as Christ has served you. You never know when Jesus will make your day through someone else. It may even be a 4 year old.

75th Celebration Thank You!
Thanks to the best "worker bees" a church family could ever have - we are so grateful for all you did to make the 75th Celebration a success.  It took a village and we really appreciated your part and especially each of you.  Carol & Jeanne
Books & Bread Outreach
Let's bless our CCLS Glendale preschool families and staff again this Thanksgiving with "Books and Bread." Sign up on the kiosk in the church lobby to let us know how many loaves of sweet breads you would like to bake. We're only 20 loaves away from our goal!

What you need to know:
  • Sign up letting us know how many loaves of sweet bread you would like to make
  • Take the provided labels to put on your bread
  • Bring your loaves to church on Sunday, November 18 or arrange with Sue Schultz to deliver them early. Since CCLS is off school the week of Thanksgiving, the loaves will be frozen and packaged for distribution with the books on November 25. They will then be given to the CCLS preschool families on Monday, November 26.
  • Pray for our outreach efforts that they may be a blessing for the givers and the receivers
If you have any questions or would like to help, contact Sue Schultz at 314-304-0556.
Gingerbread House Event
HO! HO! HO! This is a FUN family event. Come and get your fingers dirty while you glue and eat some of your favorite candy. Bring your friends and family members along with your favorite candy to decorate your gingerbread house. But first, please preorder the gingerbread house kits by November 24th. We accept cash, check, Paypal and Venmo. Volunteer are definitely welcome. If you have questions, please contact Finance@glendalelutheranchurch.org or mistlerclimer@gmail.com

Pastor Scott Uganda Opportunity
Christ Community International has invited Pastor Scott to teach Pastoral Theology this spring at the Lutheran Seminary in Uganda. We are looking for donations to cover the $2,500 cost for travel, lodging, immunizations, and expenses for the trip and ask that you prayerfully consider contributing to this opportunity. Please contact Pastor Scott or any Leadership Council member if you are interested in sponsoring this wonderful ministry opportunity.
Food Donation Cart
As the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays rapidly approach, please remember those less fortunate than you when you're out grocery shopping and help us fill up our food donation cart to Kirkcare each week. Thank you!
Church Decorating
The annual Christmas decorating of the church will be held Saturday, December 1, beginning at 8:00am. Come be a part of the festivities as we put up our brand new tree!
Operation Christmas Child Update
Thank you to everyone who packed a Christmas box for children all over the world through Samaritan's Purse. Fittingly enough when the boxes where picked up and counted, there were 75. Merry Christmas to 75 children as we celebrate our 75th year of service to others and to the Lord. (My daughter said, that's a God Wink --) and I might add a smile as he sees his little ones being loved and taken care of. With thanksgiving to all. Carol
Notes from the Music Director
The Second Annual Christmas Music Concert will be held on Sunday, December 9, at 3:00pm. The organ and various instruments will be featured. Mark your calendars now!
Volunteer Recognition
Karl Das, who had designed AND installed our irrigation system twenty years ago and has faithfully maintained that system throughout those years, has now accepted responsibility for trimming the boxwoods on our entrance drive. Thank you, Karl, not only for your many years of faithful service, but for taking on this new commitment. Karl is also in the process of expanding our irrigation system to service the new plantings on the west (Parking Lot) side of the new building.
