Pastor Scott's Message
This year is Glendale Lutheran's 75th anniversary. Our congregation has produced 892 baptisms, 936 confirmations and 401 weddings and counting. God called seven pastors over that time: Rev. Caemmerer, Rev. Schmidt, Rev. Niemoller, Rev. Maschoff, Rev. Albers, Rev. Wise and Rev. Jonas. Five Directors of Education have spread the Gospel here.  Dozens of pastors did their fieldwork at this place.
God's work deserves celebration. Pastor Steve Albers is heading a team to coordinate our 75th anniversary events. Our first one will be a special worship service in May. We have 75th anniversary banners on the way that will look down the city's main strip, Sappington Boulevard. We want to bring back former fieldworkers, members and guests. There is a lot of fun stuff we can do.
If you love Glendale and would like to bring your talents to the table, contact Pastor Albers. We need your passion and love for Jesus. The responsibilities will not be overwhelming. We want to spread them out to many people. We are here for a reason and it's over 75 years in the making.

Don't forget to join us Wednesdays during Lent for our Potluck Dinner!
  • 5:00pm-5:30pm -- Fellowship
  • 5:30pm-6:30pm -- Dinner
  • 6:30pm -- Worship service

See you on March 14 and 21!

Birthday Bags and Meal Kits
Thank you, thank you!! For all who participated in the Birthday Bag and Meal Kit program. Many thanks for your gifts. This past Monday, we delivered 56 birthday bags and 58 meal kits to Operation Food Search. If averaged over the year, it means that each week, one child will be helping decorate their cakes/cupcakes and sharing the favors with family and friends over dinner because you cared.
Palm Sunday Fair
Our third annual Palm Sunday Fair will be held in the gym on March 25, 2018, following the celebration church service. Bring your families, your grandchildren, for the palm march in the service and the egg hunt on the front lawn after church. There will also be crafts in the gym. CCLS families are  invited. A continental breakfast (sign up sheet on the kiosk) will be served after church.  In case of inclement weather, the egg hunt will be held inside.

PLEASE TAKE HOME the bags of empty eggs to be filled and returned by March 22.  Baskets are in the hall outside the office.
Easter Lilies
Easter Lily order forms are in member mailboxes! Each plant is $7.50, as in past years. Please place your orders by March 26.
75th Anniversary Celebration
Our church will begin a celebration of 75 years of God's grace and blessing on the weekend of May 5-6. But--note--it is only a beginning! Our prayer and plan is that there will be many other opportunities which will reflect and respond to our special anniversary--months of mission and ministry, worship and fellowship and special Bible studies and...the list can go on and on...with joyful gratitude to the Lord of the Church! PLEASE CONSIDER BEING PART OF A SPECIAL PLANNING GROUP TO PLAN OUR 75TH ANNIVERSARY. I have been asked and have the privilege of serving as facilitator of this Planning Group. If you are led to be part of this PLEASE RESPOND BY MARCH 21, either to Michelle or Pastor Scott at the church office or to me, Steve Albers - (314)910-7325 or stevealbers@charter.net. When our Planning Group has been established, we will set a time to meet in the very near future. Thanks for your prayerful consideration.
Family Life Center Clouded Windows
have been replaced
New operating doors were installed last week. Now we have a floor to ceiling glass wall while closed but, when open, all three panels will stack to the left and right to create two wide archways that invite to the outdoors. Many thanks go to our professional installer aptly assisted by our own very handy Rod Nobis.

Notes from the Music Director

Upcoming Concert! The first annual Spring Music Concert will be held on Sunday, April 15, at 3:00pm. Featured at this concert will be the organ, piano, violin, dulcimers, and flute. Mark this on your calendars now--Sunday, April 15 at 3:00pm!

Substitute Secretary Needs
It has come to our attention that we have a need for a "Stand-by" list to manage the church office in the event of a last minute emergency or illness by our secretary, Michelle. It would involve answering the phone, monitoring the front door, etc. We simply would like a "presence" in the office to be apparent should Michelle be unable to be here. The time frame is from 8:00am-4:30pm. Please contact any member of the Leadership Council, or leave word with Michelle in the office, and we will be in touch. We do have two immediate dates that she will be out of the office: Thursday, April 12, and Monday, April 16, if you'd like to keep those dates in mind when responding. Many thanks!
Rummage Sale - Save the Date
GLC's annual rummage sale is set for July 20-21. Mark your calendars now! More details to come.
