Pastor Scott's Message

One of the things I love to do is have in depth conversations with members. One of those conversations led to this Sunday’s Giving Seminar after worship during the Adult Bible Class in the Family Life Center. It will be led by Michael Barbercheck and Kelly Climer. Michael and I got coffee over the summer and I got to hear his life story. Hearing his testimony led us to this educational seminar.

Michael grew up at Glendale Lutheran Church. As a teenager he worked at Meramec Bluffs, a Lutheran assisted–living community. He found that he loved helping older people. He really connected with them. He discovered a calling. Whatever he did as a job he wanted to bless the older generation. In college he went into finance. He is now a financial adviser who loves protecting and guiding others including baby boomers and the greatest generation. God brought two vocations into one.

We decided over coffee that it would be great to have an educational opportunity where he could share his expertise about giving. This is not a sales pitch. It is a gift from him to the congregation. Assisting him is another member who has a similar vocation. Kelly Climer works for St. Jude’s hospital in charitable giving. They love Glendale and they love the Lord. It is a blessing for us to have these two resources.

If you would ever like to share your story over coffee, let me know. I love discovering all of the gifts of our people.
