Pastor Scott's Message

Thank you to everyone who has donated supplies that I will bring to Uganda. You can still bring the following items this Sunday: sharpened pencils, black, red and blue ink pens, simple pencil sharpeners (without container that holds shavings), erasers, and eye glasses (both prescription and readers). We’ve already collected a large suitcase worth at Glendale and other churches are donating items as well. The Christ Community International school in Uganda will be blessed.

They seem like ordinary things but to a poor country they are beautiful gifts. We take so much for granted. Pens and pencils are disposable to us. For someone going to school in Uganda they are the instruments that allow an education. They help teach reading, writing, math, and basic skills that can lead to literacy and a job. Martin Luther was a huge advocate for general education. Literate people are better neighbors. Educated people can help others in ways that uneducated people can’t. People who can read will be able to ingest the Bible for themselves. Who knows what the word will do?

I hope you know that your donation is spreading hope across the globe. I’ve heard stories that when we arrive at the Ugandan campus, the children will be anxiously waiting. They will smile and dance because a group has come from half way around the world just for them. I promise I will take pictures of them with your gifts. Their bright faces will be a thank you note to you. God is so good.
