This week I got to do one of my favorite things, host the CCLS preschool Christmas program. Monday night every pew was filled with kids, siblings, parents and grandparents. I got to see little boys with red suspenders and little girls with green bows. I welcomed back preschool alumni, letting theses elementary kids know that they are not forgotten. The sanctuary was electric with Christmas spirit. Our director, Angela, welcomed everyone and gave the gospel. Executive Director, Rev. Dr. Matt Hoener, introduced himself. Then I got up there and said, “I go into the classrooms everyday and I can tell you that we have an amazing staff. It’s easy to be an amazing staff when we have amazing kids. We have amazing kids because we have amazing families. We have amazing families because we have an amazing God. Merry Christmas.”
The kids sang songs including, “Bubbling”. The lyrics include “Its bubbling in my soul. It’s singing and laughing because Jesus made me whole.” Campus Coordinator Beth Kiessling shared a video of the kids telling the Christmas story. I led them in Bible verses, “Jesus Came to Seek and Find Lost People” and “Love the Lord with All of your Heart and Soul and All of your Strength.” At the end the kids helped me with the benediction. Afterwards, I handed out Concordia Publishing house books to the families. Like I said, “The CCLS Christmas program is my favorite.”
The next day I got an email. The parents of one of our preschoolers wants to get their child baptized. We are meeting next week and little Lucy is so excited. It doesn’t get any better than that.
