Pastor Scott's Message
Next week, on Wednesday January 30th from 6-7pm, our missionary family, the Bakers, will share their ministry with us in the Family Life Center. There will be a light meal provided. David and Rachel Baker serve the Lord as missionaries in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. They will tell us of their adventures sharing the Gospel.
David and his wife Rachel are the first LCMS missionaries to Mongolia, beginning in 2005. His responsibilities include leading Bible studies, discipling new Christians, training group leaders and pastoral candidates and producing Christian resources in the native language. David and Rachel previously served in Poland. Wisconsin is home for the Bakers, though both David and Rachel have spent significant portions of their lives abroad. David was born in Australia and later lived in Iceland and the states. Rachel lived in the Phillipines, where her parents were missionaries with the LCMS.
David and Rachel both graduated from Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska. David’s degree is in music and Rachel’s degree is in elementary education with a Director of Christian Education certificate. Their daughter Julia joined the family in 2003, son Timothy arrived in 2004 and Daniel was born in 2007. The Baker sask for prayers “that the hearts of the Kazak people living in Mongolia would be open to the good news of Jesus Christ and that God would raise up leaders from among the Mongolian people.”
Come and hear what God is doing around the world!
