Pastor Scott's Message Hospitality is a big deal in the New Testament. In Romans, Paul implores the church to "Show Hospitality." 1 Peter adds to "Show Hospitality without grumbling." Hebrews goes so far as to say, "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Jesus is bringing 3,000 strangers to our parking lot for Jazzfest on May 25th and our number one priority should be hospitality. We want people to feel at home. When you are home you feel peaceful, safe and accepted. Pray that our community experiences that here. We are trying to make this a warm environment by posting a "Welcome to Glendale Lutheran!" sign on the front lawn (Thank you Graphic Artist Paul Barbercheck). We a hosting a booth in which we give out bottled water in Glendale Lutheran Coozies. Volunteers with blue "Serving Christ--Serving Others" collared shirts will be roaming the lot looking for people to meet and bless. We also want to be hospitable by making the outside of the church look great. Come to our work party this Saturday between 9am and Noon. Bring rakes, gloves, trimmers and anything else you think we can use. If you are past your yard work years, you can bring water to the troops. God answered our prayers and is bringing thousands to our door step. We get to share this wonderful property. God really is working through us. Who knows? There could even be an angel present. |
Thank You! Many, many thanks to all who worked so well to make our 75th Anniversary kickoff celebration a meaningful time: those who organized, prepared, set up and cleaned up the brunch; the musicians; the banner-maker; and so many others. God is good and now we look forward to the hosting the Jazzfest on May 25. Thanks again so much for gathering and sharing so much valuable history which we shall use throughout our celebration. |
First Budget Reading A first reading of the Leadership Council's proposed 2018/2019 budget will take place at 11:30am on May 20, 2018, in the Family Life Center immediately following Bible Study. Please plan on attending so we can explain our budget items and answer any questions the Congregation may have on those items. We will provide members with a spreadsheet comparing the current fiscal year budget with next year's proposed budget in advance of the May 20, 2018, meeting. A light lunch will also be provided during the meeting. - The Leadership Council |
Pancake Breakfast The Preschool Outreach Committee would like to thank Roger Lubben, Carol and Ron Froesel , and Cindy Smith for helping serve the families at our May 9 Pancake Breakfast! We had approximately 75 CCLS Glendale campus families and staff eat pancakes with us Wednesday morning. |
Yard Work Volunteer Wanted We are looking for a volunteer to maintain the boxwood bushes on our campus. Bushes should be trimmed as necessary (2 to 3 times per year). It is estimated to take two to three hours to trim. We will provide a cordless trimmer unless you prefer to use you own. Please let Michelle know if you are willing to take responsibility for this seasonal task. |
