Pastor Scott's Message
Last Sunday was All Saints Day. My sermon said that we give glory to God alone because he is all-important. He is the only person who is important by nature. He has always exited and will continue to exist. All things are created and sustained by his hand, including us.

Yet, God shares his glory with us, making us important.  Through Faith in Jesus we have worth. We are important to the all-important God. Those who die in the faith retain their significance. They live with Christ. Last Sunday, we got to recognize those who have passed on but live in Christ. People came forward to speak the name of a loved one who remains a saint. Then we rang a bell to remember their life on earth and trust them to the Lord.

Here are the names of members who died since last All Saints day.

Dagnija Comado
Mary Ann Faeth
Jan Marting
Marilyn McDermott
Mary Vanderwaal
Rev. Rodney Wise

We thank God that he created them and sustains them forever. We remember how God used them to bless us. We miss them but know that one day our hugs will no longer be empty. Our love will not kiss thin air. We will be reunited with them and it will be better than before.
Books & Bread Outreach
Let's bless our 100 CCLS Glendale preschool families and staff again this Thanksgiving with "Books and Bread." Sign up on the kiosk in the church lobby to let us know how many loaves of sweet breads you would like to bake.

What you need to know:
  • Sign up letting us know how many loaves of sweet bread you would like to make
  • Take the provided labels (that will be near the sign-ups) to put on your bread
  • Bring your loaves to church on Sunday, November 19th or arrange with Sue Schultz to deliver them early
  • Pray for our outreach efforts that they may be a blessing for the givers and the receivers
If you have any questions or would like to help, contact Sue Schultz at 314-304-0556.
Lancer Singers at GLC
Next Sunday the Lancer Singers from Lutheran High School South will present their musical gifts during the morning worship service. Our own Faith Jonas is a member of the ensemble. The Lancer Singers are directed by Greg Gastler.

Kirkcare Food Pantry
As the Thanksgiving holiday rapidly approaches, we would like once again to support the Food Pantry of Kirkcare. Kirkcare is a non-profit organization formed by the Kirkwood Ministerial Alliance and serves families in need within the Kirkwood school district (the communities of Kirkwood, Glendale, Warson Woods, Oakland, and Des Peres). When you are out grocery shopping in the next few weeks, please try to pick up an extra non-perishable food item (or two or three) and bring it to church to place on the table at the back of the sanctuary or in the marked shopping cart. Thank you for your support as it will help numerous families in this time and show that Glendale Lutheran cares and supports them in Christian love.
Notes from the Music Director

Organ Lesson Two

There are 5 types of sounds in a pipe organ.

  1. Principals or Diapasons, which are unique sounds that do not imitate any instruments.
  2. Flutes, that sounds like a flute at different pitches.
  3. Strings that imitate various string instruments.
  4. Reeds or Brass that imitate clarinets, oboes, trumpets, horns, trombones, etc.
  5. Mixtures that are 3 or more sets of pipes, all very high pitches that add brilliant sounds to the entire organ.
