Pastor Scott's Message

Each week I try to emphasize one thing that God is doing in our church. Last week it was CCLS Sunday and I thank Kelly Climer and all of the volunteers who made that happen. This week there are several things I want to bring to your attention. The biggest one is that our fieldworker Nathan McCarty and his family received a call to Jacksonville, Florida. They are going back to Bethlehem Lutheran church, their vicarage congregation. I got to go to the call ceremony and congratulate Nathan and Erica on behalf of Glendale Lutheran. They are very excited and relieved. This is what they were hoping would happen. We are thankful for them but sad they will be leaving us soon. On Sunday, May 19th we will formally say goodbye. Erica, a trained Director of Christian Education, will give the children’s message. We will pray over them as a family. Then we will eat cake. We are also presenting them with gifts. If you would like to donate to their travels you can give them a letter with money or gift cards. You can also give to the church with a note on your check designating it to the McCartys. We will miss them.

Sue Schultz and I have been preparing for the National Youth Gathering. We are taking Lillian Conger, Faith Jonas, Max Sauer, Miles Sauer, Abbie Schultz and Luke Schultz to Minneapolis in July. This Sunday we will have a special Bible study to prepare them and the congregation. During the normal Adult Bible Study time after worship we will explore the theme REAL. PRESENT. GOD. Come and support our kids.

I said the McCartys call was the biggest news but nothing is bigger than Jeff Wille’s successful surgery. Last week, surgeons sewed up a quarter-inch hole in his heart that had been there undetected his whole life. His doctor said that it was a miracle that he was alive. He should feel like a new man. Thank you, Jesus, for healing Jeff.

The courtyard is moving forward. The county held up our construction because they wanted us to construct an outdoor sprinkler system in case the shade sails ever caught fire. We negotiated and agreed to make the sails a little smaller and temporary. They will be able to be taken down. So now we should see the construction continue and completed this summer. Thank you to everyone who has helped with this project, Paul and Sandy, Jerry, Rod, Andy, Carol, Karen and others.
