Pastor Scott's Message
Tomorrow, Thursday the 14th, I leave for Uganda. My daughter Faith and I, along with 17 other Christ Community International volunteers arrive at the St. louis Airport at 10am. We check in 40 bags full of pens, pencils, glasses, and other supplies. Thank you if you contributed. At 2pm, our Delta flight travels to Detroit. After a lay over we go over the Atlantic to Amsterdam. From Amsterdam it is a direct flight on Friday to Kampala, the capital of Uganda.
On Saturday we get to tour the city, visiting a local market. That night we travel on the Nile. On Sunday, we worship and I preach at a local Lutheran congregation near Kawete. I get to wear a special Stole made for me by Lisa Grossenheider and Carol Froesel. My sermon is on creation (You heard it last lent.) In the afternoon we attend a graduation ceremony for the school. Eighth grade graduates at the Lutheran school receive a Bible and a goat. Thank you to those who donate money to provide these gifts.
The next day I begin teaching in the mornings at the seminary which is 20 minutes from the Kawete school. I still do not know what I’m going to teach. It may be a book of the Bible or something else. Pray that God’s words flow through me. Meanwhile at the school, the rest of the group will be building chicken coops and play ground equipment, teaching girls about health, painting a mural, and providing medical care. On Friday, I help lead a Men’s Bible study for the village. It will be on the Prodigal Son.
This is what is going to happen on paper. God may have other plans. As always, he will use us as he wills. I hope for miracles, gospel work, changed lives and spiritual growth for the people of Uganda and for us. I can’t wait to share our experiences with you. Meanwhile, if you have any Pastoral concerns while I’m gone, Pastor Albers will be happy to help.
