One Family Bible Class
This week we study the parable of the Good Samaritan. God calls us to act in love toward all people, even our enemies, but we often pass by on the other side, ignoring our neighbor in need. But because Jesus is the Good Samaritan to us, healing us from sin and restoring us to everlasting life, we can be a good samaritan to others.

Stewardship Sentence
Isaiah 6:3 - And one called to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!" Three times the angels cry out: "Holy, Holy, Holy!" which is an indication of the threeness in God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is the Name we are baptized into. We have been made a part of God's family. And so we are now called to live lives that are in harmony with our new family: we are to be godly, to live in God's image. As God is loving, and kind, and generous - so are we called to be.

You Spoke, We Listened
One of the themes that came up in the recent Vision Survey was the desire to have variety in the music and liturgy in worship. Therefore, once a month we will have an "alternate" service featuring music and liturgy not in the hymnal. This will usually be the first Sunday of the month. Each month we will use a different setting of the Divine Service, varying the elements somewhat from week to week.

Upcoming Voters' Meetings
There will be a Regular Voters' Meeting on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 11:30am. The Agenda includes a financial update and the first reading of the 2016-2017 Budget. The second reading of the budget and approval will be on Sunday, June 26 at 11:30am. All members are strongly encouraged to attend these important meetings. A draft budget will be distributed prior to the June 5 meeting for your consideration.

VBS Volunteers Needed
Be a part of the Barnyard Roundup and help God's children learn that Jesus gathers us together, calls us by name, and loves us now and forever. If you can help full or part time, we have many ways to be involved to suit your schedule and interests. Visit our website (www.glendalelutheranchurch.org) and click on the Barnyard Roundup logo to sign up to be a volunteer, or sign up using a Barnyard Roundup Volunteer Registration Form on the shelf in front of the mailboxes outside the Family Life Center. When complete, place the form in the VBS mailbox outside the church office.

VBS Snacks Needed
Thanks for your generosity in past years in providing snacks for the VBS kids. Can you help again? What do we need? All sorts of things like veggies (particularly carrot sticks and cut-up cauliflower, goldfish crackers, graham crackers, rice crispy treats, popcorn, trail mix (no peanuts), sandwich bread, strawberry or raspberry jam, and sun butter or other spread not made with peanuts. Please take a shopping reminder note from the kiosk so we know what you are getting and what we still need. Thanks again.

Calling All Crafters!
We will be hosting another craft fair this fall on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 9:00am to 2:00pm. All kinds of crafts are needed to make the fair a success. If you have a special talent that you would like to showcase, here is your chance. All money's collected from the sale will be used for the repair of the organ. We understand that this repair will require the removal of all the pipes to get to the problem area.  If you plan to donate to the fair please let the Nifty Knitters and the Clever Crocheters know what you have in mind.  Place your ideas for donations in Sally Dobrunz's box. Thanks in advance for your donations.
Pennies for Pipes
The Pipes are calling! It seems that the time has come for the "semi-centennial" (every 50 years or so), check-up (lubricating) of the organ pipes, which has been scheduled for July of this year. In an effort to help defray some of this expense, we will place a large jar on the table in the back of the Sanctuary in an effort to collect "loose change" or those pennies from heaven to help achieve this goal. Apparently this endeavor is terribly labor intensive, so in a small way we can all contribute to this expense. Thank you to all young and old for your help.

Host Families Needed

Friends in Christ,

Is there a family in your congregation who comes to mind as the perfect host family for an international student? Are they a family who will welcome a high school student, enjoy the challenge of hosting and nurturing a student, and share the Gospel message?

As the international student program at Lutheran North and Lutheran South expands to include a homestay element alongside our dorm program, we are asking you to help us find families who are willing to host these students in their homes. To identify potential host families for international students, we have partnered with LPI Learning. LPI manages our home stay program, matching international students with families and providing the support needed during the hosting year. To encourage this initiative, LPI is now offering $500 to churches that connect interested host families to LPI Learning.

Please encourage your families to contact LPI by clicking here, or by calling Jessica Pignataro at (203) 680-9982. Families should mention their church's name to make their church eligible for the $500 incentive. Only families that complete the registration process and become hosts of an international student will earn the incentive.

Hosting an international student is a life-changing experience. With your help, we hope to also give an international student the chance to have their lives changed by God by receiving a Lutheran education here in St. Louis.

In Christ,

Glendale Jazzfest
You are invited to attend the 17th annual Glendale Jazz fest, coming up on Friday, May 27th at Glendale City Hall (424 N. Additionally, through the cooperation and support of Kirkwood School District, parking will be available at both North Glendale Elementary (Kirkham and Sappington) and the Kirkwood Early Childhood Center (Lockwod and Sappington). Thanks to Cardinal Ritter Senior Services, shuttles will run between both parking lots and Jazz Fest throughout the event.
