Pastor Scott's Message
Two of the great treasures of our church are Word and Sacrament. This congregation has such a zeal for the Lord's Supper that we host it every weekend. We value the Word so much that we have it in our hymns, our liturgy, and our readings. We teach the Word to little ones in our Children's messages. We teach it to our teens and adults through the sermon (though some get more out of the children's message.)
Sunday morning bible class is vital to the life and health of Glendale Lutheran. We are called to other Bible studies like personal devotions, family time in the word, Women's Bible studies and all of the others. But Sunday morning Bible class is the one time the whole church is called to dive into Scripture. I love seeing all of the generations together. We have youth sharing their insight alongside older believers offering their wisdom.
I thank everyone who joins us in the Family Life Center on Sundays. It shows your dedication, not just to your Lord, but to His people. Bible class is the best way to get to know a wide variety of the members of Glendale. It is encouraging to me to see you there. When you share the best and worst of the week it gives the others at your table meaningful things for which to pray. When you ask a question that someone else was afraid to ask it shows that we are not alone. When you offer your understanding on a verse it enlightens the whole room. Every week I learn from the faith of our people. Keep coming and encourage your friends to attend as well.

Birthday Bags and Meal Kits - Community Service Project
GLC and CCLS are joining together for the 3rd year to bring joy to a child and their family on his/her birthday. Operation Food Search (OFS) will distribute the bags to agencies that work with families who would not be able to afford a birthday party and surprises for their children without our help. Please consider putting together the Birthday Bag(s) and the Meal Kit(s) during February and placing completed bags on the floor near the box in the foyer by March 2, 2018. Recognizing this takes a bit of work, equally good alternatives are to purchase some of the pieces for either the party or meal bag and place them in the box at the entrance to the church OR give a cash donation to the church secretary, Michelle, Marcia Hempel (GLC) or Jessica Berner (CCLS). We will use the cash to fill in missing pieces in bags on March 3 when we gather to check bags for completion. WHATEVER YOU CONTRIBUTE WILL BE A BIG HELP. THANK YOU.

Nursery Volunteers Needed
The GLC nursery is in need of more volunteers to serve in a rotation with the few dedicated people we already have. Please contact Michelle in the office or Tracey Ortstadt if you're interested in joining the rotation!
Lutheran Resale Shop
The Lutheran Resale Shop, 6701 W. Florissant, in Jennings, has just donated proceeds to Lutheran Senior Foundation in the amount of $5000 for Hidden Lake and Breeze Park Benevolent Care. We also donated $5000 to Lutheran Family and Children's Services. We are so excited to share this information with all our churches. We appreciate all the donations you have given us over the past few months.

At this time we are having our half off sale on all clothing, coats, shoes, etc. This will continue for a few more weeks. Lutheran Resale Shop is a  good place to purchase collectibles and vintage items including furniture. We want you to know we have slightly used school uniforms for private and public schools at low prices. We are still in need of a several more volunteers. We are open Monday through Saturday from 10 :00am to 3:00pm.  We encourage you to come in and volunteer anytime.  Any questions, please call the shop at 314-389-9970.
