In Christ Alone - Bible Study of Philippians

Continuing in the Youth Room, this week we see how, as Christians, our identity is in Christ Alone. This Bible study is not only for youth who are attending the National Youth Gathering and their families, it is for all who wish to benefit from this study of Philippians and come to a fuller understanding of how our entire lives are found in Christ Alone.

One Family Bible Class
The Bible story this week is Jesus feeding the 5000 from John 6:1-14. This week we learn that in His love, God promises to care for all our physical and spiritual needs and gives us the greatest treasure: His Son who brings the gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation.
Stewardship Sentence

Rev. 21:1 "Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more." The things of this world are passing away. We are waiting for a new heaven and a new earth that has been promised to us in Christ. This knowledge is foundational for our stewardship of what God has put into our hands. What is truly important? What is worthy of our support? How has God called us to use "unrighteous mammon" for the good of our neighbor and His kingdom?
Women's Evening Bible Study
All women are welcome; gathering together is a great opportunity to share prayer concerns and be strengthened by God's Work and by each other. Eighteen women currently are a part of this group; not all can attend every time and that is understood. We meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7:00pm. Please call or email

Women's Tuesday Morning Bible Study
Please consider joining us as we explore "Discerning the Voice of God" presented by Priscilla Shirer. Through this study you will become more familiar with God's Holy Spirit, His character, language, and tone of voice. Call Carol Froesel or Jeanne Clark if you have any questions.

Comment on the GLC Vision Survey?

The Glendale Lutheran Church Vision Task Force (Michael Barbercheck, Joy Elowsky, Bruce Hartung, Marcia Hempel, David Reed) and the Chair of the Leadership Council, Andy Ryan, invite you to a time for conversation and comment concerning the results of the GLC Vision survey. This opportunity for conversation will be this Sunday (April 24) during the Adult Education Hour immediately following the church service. We will begin around 10:30 am. We relish your participation in this opportunity for conversation and comment.

Missed the Report of the Vision Survey Results Last Week?

WANT TO SEE THE PRESENTATION OF THE RESULTS? OR, DO YOU WANT TO REVIEW THE REPORT AGAIN? Go to our glendalelutheranchurch.org web site and then click on the large orange button labeled, " Live Worship Webcast" Then click "Report on Vision Task Force survey results". There it is. Check it out.

Calling All Crafters!

We will be hosting another craft fair this fall on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M  All kinds of crafts are needed to make the fair a success.  If you have a special talent that you would like to showcase, here is your chance.  All money's collected from the sale will be used for the repair of the organ. We understand that this repair will require the removal of all the pipes to get to the problem area.   If you plan to donate to the fair please let the Nifty Knitters and the Clever Crocheters know what you have in mind.  Place your ideas for donations in Sally Dobrunz's box. Thanks in advance for your donations.

Rummage Sale--Save the Date!
It is getting close to time for our annual rummage sale. Items can be brought to the gym beginning on Sunday, June 19. Look for a volunteer sign-up sheet to be posted on the kiosk soon.

Membership Class

Interested in becoming a member of Glendale Lutheran Church? Or are you already a member and just want to brush up on basic doctrine and teaching? A four week membership class will begin on Sunday, May 8 during the Bible class hour (beginning approximately 10:30 a.m. following the church service). We will meet in room 211 (the corner meeting room upstairs with the preschool). Child care will be provided if needed. Contact Pastor Wise with questions.

Children's Worship Materials
We are looking for someone to take charge of the children's worship materials at the back  of the church. This would entail periodically checking the bags to ensure each is stocked with paper, crayons, etc. If you are interesting in serving this way, please contact the church office.
