One Family Bible Class
This Sunday we continue our study of Joseph. He made difficult decisions but he always tried to follow the will of God. Come learn from the example of the "step-father" of Jesus.

No Bible Class August 28
Because of the church picnic following the service on Aug. 28, there will be no Sunday Bible Class on that date.

Stewardship Sentence
Luke 10:25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Talk about the wrong question! You can't do anything to inherit something - it's either yours by birth or you are not in the family and there's nothing you can do to inherit it. We are part of the family through Baptism. We don't have to buy our way into the Kingdom - we are brought in by the precious Blood of Christ. Our good works are not the purchase price of the Kingdom - they are simply what the children of the Father want to do in thanksgiving to Him.
Annual Picnic
August 28th will be a very special Sunday. First, we will have a special service recognizing and honoring Glendale's police and firefighters and thanking them for their service. The annual church picnic will follow on the front lawn. There will be games for the kids and entertainment for the adults. The Maple Jam Band will share their gift of music at the picnic. Hot dogs, etc. will be provided. Plan to bring a dish to share at the picnic. It promises to be a great day.
National Youth Gathering Presentation September 18
Join our youth on Sunday, Sept. 18 during the Bible class hour (previously announced as Sept. 11) and see them share about their experiences at the recent National Youth Gathering. Come hear how they experienced what it means to have life in Christ Alone.

Youth Room Donation

Thanks to Mary Ann Faeth, the Youth Room has an excellent addition!  Please go by the Youth Room to enjoy the slate top pool table donated by Mary Ann Faeth.  It will be a pleasure to play on the new-to-us pool table which will serve us for many years.  Thank you to Mary Ann Faeth for your generosity and blessings to you always.

  • Pray for Nazerke who was just married
Orphan Grain Train
The regional branch of Orphan Grain Train (OGT) here in St. Louis is seeking a new home. For 16 years OGT has successfully operated out of the old Concordia Seminary building, owned by Holy Cross in south St. Louis. Due to advances for ministry in that area, Holy Cross now needs the space, and while we are pleased for their opportunity, it leaves OGT without a local "home" for special ministry to the needy.

OGT has until the end of September to relocate. If you have any leads on a usable space (8,500 would be ideal) in a decent an workable locale, let me know. We have a shoestring budget and would do well to have as much support (and benefits) as possible to make this happen. Otherwise, OGT in this part of the Midwest will go dormant, meaning that at least 6 food pantries will not be supplied food and goods via OGT. It also means local OGT support for overseas outreach to Mongolia, Latvia, Africa, and South America (all points that have benefitted from OGT's ministry efforts) will be on hold for an indefinite time.

We are seeking options for a new home that may be used a minimum of 2 or 3  years at which time we can evaluate the situation. We are willing to explore donations at least to cover the cost of utilities. To accommodate 14 freezer/cooling units we may be willing to meet the cost of extra electrical improvements to the facility. Ideally, we plan to use hand-operated pallet jacks to move material onto the premises and to store pallets until shipments are made. We will need access to a kitchen sink large enough to allow the washing of items in preparation for shipping. We are ideally seeking an entryway on the first floor that can allow for a pallet to enter. A loading dock (or its equivalent) would be ideal. We are flexible given the circumstance, and can discuss options for use upon visiting the site.

Blessings!
