| Pastor Biermann's Message This past Sunday was Pentecost, which means that this coming Sunday is Trinity Sunday. This is a great festival in the church year. Certainly, every Sunday is a celebration of God's reality and the praise of his grace and glory, but Trinity Sunday is particularly focused on the very being or identity of God as Triune: three distinct persons yet one simple God. Three in one--Tri-une. So, on Sunday we sing "Holy, Holy, Holy" and on Sunday we confess the Athanasian Creed. I realize that some of you might consider such a disclosure to be counter-productive to encouraging church attendance! I have learned, over the years, that not everyone is fond of the Athanasian Creed; indeed, the Creed even has its detractors. The criticism of the great Christian Confession seems to be two-pronged: it's long and its confusing. On the first count, it must be granted that this is the longest of the three ecumenical creeds that guide the faith of all Christians. But, the recitation of the creed does not have to be a bout of painful unison reading. It's a lively confession and deserves a lively articulation-besides it's only once a year! You can be confident that Sunday's confession of the creed will be brisk and robust. The charge of confusion is a bit more serious. Since the Creed tackles head-on the task of confessing the depth and wonder of God's being, it shouldn't be too surprising that it can be a bit daunting. God's being is by definition incomprehensible, so it might be expected that the Creed can seem a bit overwhelming and even confusing. The key is not to obsess over the tiny details as you confess it, but to delight in the fullness and comprehensive thoroughness of the declaration of God's Triune reality. And the good news is that immediately after the service, all in attendance will be able to find answers to every question, explore every detail, and satisfyingly define every term at the outset of Bible class. So, come to worship this Sunday ready to confess the Athanasian Creed. Come, ready to celebrate the Trinity.

| Youth Servant Event & GLC Work Day The Youth Servant Event is scheduled for Sunday, June 25 through Wednesday, June 28. On Tuesday, June 27, join us Youth and Adult work day at Glendale. Youth are at the core of this work day but we cannot do it without adult help! Please join us beginning at 9:00am. All are needed and welcome! Then join us at 5:30pm on Wednesday, June 28 for a potluck. Come for the Wrap-Up of our Youth Servant Event and hear of our experiences! Thank you for supporting GLC Youth!

| Glendale VBS - THANK YOU! Dear Glendale Lutheran Church Friends, VBS week has come and gone! For 5 days, we were able to proclaim the truth of Jesus and his love to 70 children from the community. God is good, and for this we give Him thanks! Thanks is also due to each one of you who supported this ministry in prayer; for apart from God's Spirit, we accomplish nothing good. Thank you also to everyone who donated goods, volunteered their time setting up, cooking at the picnic, and leading the children last week. This truly was a whole church effort, and a huge success. Thank you for the opportunity to come along side and partner with you in ministry. May God bless your pastoral search, and guide each of you to a deeper understanding of His love for you in Jesus. | Help Needed with St. Paul's College Hill VBS St. Paul's Lutheran Church in College Hill will be hosting an EVENING VBS again this year, and we are asking for groups who might VOLUNTEER for ONE EVENING of the 5 we have planned. We are planning on July 24-27, and August 1 in the evenings (5:30-7:30, with a meal provided).
