The purpose of the TEC weekend is to enable older youth (ages 16-20) at a time when they are making life decisions, to encounter the presence of Christ in their lives and to commit themselves to a life under Him. Use of Word and Sacrament under the power of the Holy Spirit is the primary means by which the purpose of TEC is fulfilled.
The setting is a fresh, different atmosphere away from home and school, in an accepting community of Christians who are willing to share themselves and their experiences--in talks, worship, prayer, fellowship, recreation, music and activities--because they care about how you see yourself, your ideals, your hopes, your dreams and your problems. Participants stay and sleep at Glendale Lutheran for the entire retreat. TEC was adapted for the Lutheran church in 1979. Since then hundreds of youth, including our own Tony Petzoldt have experienced it. Leadership includes Ron Roma(Lutheran High South), Travis Scholl, and Jason Broge (Concordia Seminary). Glendale wants to pay half of the $50 cost for anyone from our church who wants to go. Go to www.showmetec.com to register. Contact Pastor Scott for more information. |
Angel Tree - Gifts for the Children of Seminarians The Angel Tree in the church is decorated with Angel ornaments with the names of children of seminarians. Please select an ornament, if you wish to participate, and purchase a gift for the child whose name is on the ornament. Wrap the gift and place it under the tree by Sunday, December 10. The gifts will be delivered to the children on Monday, December 11. Any questions, contact Mary Skouby. Thank you! |

LFCS Season of Sharing Glendale Lutheran Church is once again participating in Lutheran Family and Children's Services of Missouri's Season of Sharing mission, which provides area foster children with Christmas gifts. There is table set up near the Church entrance with a box for gift cards or cash donations. Gift cards in the $10 to $50 range for Walmart, Target, or Amazon.com are preferred. Donations need to be made by this Sunday, December 10, 2017, to provide LFCS staff time to shop and distribute gifts before Christmas. Additional information regarding the ministry and families being served can be found next to the gift card/cash donation box.

Join Glendale's Publicity/Communications Team ???? Your Leadership Council is now forming a three-person team to plan and implement our internal and external publicity and communications. Team members will work with Pastor Scott to create and coordinate publicity, both internal to us and external to others such as local newspapers and media, for our special events, projects, and happenings. The team will also engage our already well-planned website so it becomes more active. Interested in being a part of this team? Let Pastor Scott or a Leadership Council member know.

Altar Flowers The 2018 Altar Flower Chart is hanging by the office. Please take a moment after church to sign up. An arrangement is a great way to honor or remember a loved one, birthday, anniversary, graduation, new baby, or whatever the occasion. We are using Kirkwood Florist and Walter Knoll Florist. Arrangements cost $40-$45 depending on flowers chosen. Thank you do everyone who signed up last year. If you have any questions, please call Beverly Dixson at 314-822-2899. |

Notes from the Music Director Things I have learned from the organ: - Music is the key to life.
- Sometimes you just have to pipe up, so stick to your principals.
- When in doubt, think outside the Bach's.
- Practicing scales will tip them in your favor.
- Some of the best things in life are right under your feet. Take time to enjoy the beautiful stops along the way.

Kirkcare Food Drive - Thank You! Once again, Glendale members have responded with a positive and caring food donation to Kirkcare food pantry. We delivered over 20 large sacks and boxes last week to the Kirkcare pantry. Please continue to remember those in need, not only at holiday time but throughout the year, and fill the shopping cart on a regular basis. Glendale Lutheran cares! |
