Pastor Scott's Message This Sunday we kickoff the 75th Anniversary for Glendale Lutheran Evangelical Church. We mark the celebration by hosting a special service on Sunday at 9:15am. There will be no Saturday night service because we want our whole congregation together. We will have three generations leading worship. Pastor Steve Albers is preaching on "Serving Christ- Serving Others." Pastor Scott Jonas is the liturgist and celebrant. Seminarian Christian Pieper teaches the children's lesson based on Abraham. A whole team of people have helped with the service, brunch and other 75th anniversary events. We have a beautiful banner to commemorate the day. We will have a slew of vintage pictures that document the church's history. Jack Bentzinger is going to share a remembrance of how God blessed Glendale through Room at the Inn. There is special music and a brunch where we ask people to share a Glendale memory. We were hoping to have Pastor Dale Griffen in attendance. He came to Glendale in the 1960s and now watches the services via the broadcast. He really wants to be with us but his body will not let him. So Steve Albers and I visited him this week. We wanted to hear again his testimony so we could share it with you at the brunch. God is good, all the time. We proclaim that every Sunday. This Sunday we very specifically thank him for his people throughout the ages at 1365 N. Sappington. 75 years of serving Christ and serving Others. Who is ready for another 75? |
First Budget Reading A first reading of the Leadership Council's proposed 2018/2019 budget will take place at 11:30am on May 20, 2018, in the Family Life Center immediately following Bible Study. Please plan on attending so we can explain our budget items and answer any questions the Congregation may have on those items. We will provide members with a spreadsheet comparing the current fiscal year budget with next year's proposed budget in advance of the May 20, 2018, meeting. A light lunch will also be provided during the meeting. - The Leadership Council |
Yard Work Volunteer Wanted We are looking for a volunteer to maintain the boxwood bushes on our campus. Bushes should be trimmed as necessary (2 to 3 times per year). It is estimated to take two to three hours to trim. We will provide a cordless trimmer unless you prefer to use you own. Please let Michelle know if you are willing to take responsibility for this seasonal task. |
Save the Date--Saturday, May 12 We are expecting over 3000 guests for the up-coming JazzFest on May 25. Would you consider joining together to make sure our property is looking its best? For many many neighbors we have a one time chance to make a great first impression. We are planning a work day for Saturday, May 12. (May 19 will be our back up date if the weather fails to cooperate on the 12th.) Please let Michelle know if you can plan to schedule that morning so that, in turn, we can properly plan what we can complete in that timeframe. |
