Pastor Scott's Message Every month I have the blessing of gathering with our Elders for prayer, study, planning and oversight. Our elders are Greg Frimel, Ron Froesel, John Steele, Jason DeBord and Robert Lubben. They are faithful men who want to serve the Lord by caring for His church. I have worked in six churches over the years with many elders. I can say that Glendale's elders are great men of integrity and wisdom. The role of elders differs from church to church. At Glendale, their primary responsibility has been to support and oversee the Pastor. They have certainly done a good job with that. One elder let my family stay with them until we settled and another helped us find a house. That is rare generosity. The elders also increased their responsibilities when Pastor Wise was stricken with cancer. The church used to have a deacon program which freed up elders to focus on the general spiritual direction of the church, worship and the pastor. Since we no longer have that, the elders need to do more of that personal member care. The elders and I have been training through the book, "The Caring Elder." It reviews the Biblical description of Elders, worship opportunities, the need to be daily grounded in the Word, serving others, witnessing and much more. I am very grateful for them. If you haven't introduced yourself to then, you will find their pictures on the hallway wall. Shake their hand and let them know that you appreciate their work for Jesus. |

The quilt hanging by the Cry Room in the Sanctuary is on loan from former members Terry and Junette Higgins and their family Lisa and Corey. It was lovingly stitched by the ladies of Glendale and was presented to them when they moved away to California in 1986. |

Yard Work Volunteer Wanted We are looking for a volunteer to maintain the boxwood bushes on our campus. Bushes should be trimmed as necessary (2 to 3 times per year). It is estimated to take two to three hours to trim. We will provide a cordless trimmer unless you prefer to use you own. Please let Michelle know if you are willing to take responsibility for this seasonal task. |
