Pastor Scott's Message In the TV show Seinfeld, George's father, Frank, famously used the holidays to air his grievances. I will not be doing that. In fact, I will do the opposite. Last month was Pastor Appreciation and now I get to appreciate you. It has been over a year since I've taken the call to Glendale. I now have the perspective to choose all of the things for which I am thankful. I am grateful for everyone who made me feel special last month. I still have the preschool and Sunday school kid's posters they made for me. They have little feet on them with the kid's names. They have pictures of the four year olds, holding up signs that spell out "We Love Pastor Scott!" How can I not smile every time I look up? I also thank you for your cards and gifts. I am thankful for a congregation who accepts me. You have let me be myself and not tried to fit me into the mold of another pastor. That is a great gift. I appreciate that when I try something different in worship you are flexible. Worship isn't about me and it's not about you. It's about Jesus coming to us. I am thrilled that we have a council and president who dedicate themselves to graciously lead this congregation. To also have wise men as elders is a crucial support as well. I am blessed by three Bible studies: Sunday morning, Monday's men's and Tuesday's women's. Sunday morning is everything I could want. You come with hungry souls, ready to dive into the sermon text and share in spiritual conversations. Monday is new but the men have stepped up and declared that this type of fellowship is essential. Tuesday morning along with Thursday night is the heart of Glendale. The prayer requests alone let me know who is hurting and who needs extra help. I am thankful for Michelle Fiala, our secretary, who cheerfully represents us during the week to CCLS and visitors as well as a thousand other needed tasks. I am proud to have Jim Thielker as our Music Director. His enthusiasm is infectious and his experience is a treasure for any church. I give God praise for all of you who volunteer for: Sunday school, Worship positions, potluck, maintenance, choir, preschool outreach, the 75th, communications, decorations, hymn planning, and vision team. I am grateful for a family who embraces my call and this congregation. Thank you, Ann, for being my soulmate. Thank you, Grace and Faith, for bringing so much joy and happiness to my life. Everything listed above is from our gracious Lord and Savior. My cup runneth over this Thanksgiving week.

Operation Christmas Child Update Thank you to everyone who packed a Christmas box for children all over the world through Samaritan's Purse. Fittingly enough when the boxes where picked up and counted, there were 75. Merry Christmas to 75 children as we celebrate our 75th year of service to others and to the Lord. (My daughter said, that's a God Wink --) and I might add a smile as he sees his little ones being loved and taken care of. With thanksgiving to all. Carol |

Volunteer Recognition Karl Das, who had designed AND installed our irrigation system twenty years ago and has faithfully maintained that system throughout those years, has now accepted responsibility for trimming the boxwoods on our entrance drive. Thank you, Karl, not only for your many years of faithful service, but for taking on this new commitment. Karl is also in the process of expanding our irrigation system to service the new plantings on the west (Parking Lot) side of the new building. |
