Pastor Scott's Message  Advent is a time of anticipation. We anticipate the coming of our Lord. Here are some advent events to anticipate as well. Our second annual Christmas Concert is this Sunday at 3pm. Our Jim Thielker masterfully plays Christmas classics such as Drummer Boy, Angels We Have Heard on High, the March of the Wise Men, and Joy to the World. He and Gwen Pieper team up on a duet of What Child is This? Joan Schlichter and her daughter Jean Das graciously perform Christmas Carols on the dulcimers. This delightful music helps us to feel the holidays in our innermost being. It is worship in the most joyous degree. On Sunday we will start a documentary during Bible class called "The Drop Box." This 2015 movie is about a South Korean pastor who senses an unusual call from the Lord. He creates a "Drop Box" in the side of the church building in which desperate mothers can give their newborn to the church. The faithful pastor and congregation have no idea what God has in store but they heed Jesus' call. This movie moved my heart and I'm sure it will move yours. It is a great example of what the church can be. On Monday, Glendale Lutheran is hosting Christ Community Lutheran School's Christmas program at 6:30pm. The kids will sing songs about the baby Jesus. I will give a children's message. We will present a Concordia Publishing House book, The Wonder of Christmas, to the families. I would love to have some faithful members on hand to greet people at the door, take pictures, and witness what God is doing through our partnership with CCLS.

Shut-in Christmas Bags Again this year we will be filling gift bags for our shut-in friends. A sign-up sheet for donations is on the kiosk--please decide what you would like to donate and place your initials in as many boxes as appropriate. Seminary Families Tree Our Seminary Families Tree in the back of church is decorated with ornaments with the names of children of seminarians. Please select an ornament if you wish to participate, and purchase a gift for the child whose name is on the ornament. Wrap the gift and place it under the tree by Sunday, December 9. The gifts will be delivered to the children on Monday, December 10. If you have any questions, please contact Mary Skouby. |

Pastor Scott Uganda Opportunity Christ Community International has invited Pastor Scott to teach Pastoral Theology this spring at the Lutheran Seminary in Uganda.
