Glimpses of Glendale
Glendale Lutheran Church Newsletter
August 27, 2020
This week’s sermon is on Deuteronomy 6 where Moses says, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children.” This is the responsibility not only of every Christian parent but every adult.

CCLS opened last week after a five month absence from our campus. Our school is a great example that Glendale Lutheran takes Moses’ words seriously. I went into the three year olds class and read them a story called “The Three Trees.” One tree wants to grow up and be a treasure chest, another wants to be a sailing ship and the third wants to point to God. The trees are disappointed when they are cut down and made into a feeding bin, a fishing boat and ordinary lumber. Then one day the feeding bin holds baby Jesus. Later the fishing boat witnesses Jesus calm the storm. Finally, the third tree is used to make the cross. For the rest of time his wood pointed to the savior. The three year olds were spellbound.

We all have a responsibility to pass on the Gospel. For parents and grandparents that is a lifelong quest. For everyone else, look for opportunities to love kids and share God’s words with them.
Please wear a mask during worship services.
