This Sunday is CCLS Sunday! Executive Director Matthew Hoehner is preaching on Joshua and I will be doing the Children’s Message. We’ll have cake and cookies and pray over God’s work through our Lutheran school.
We at Glendale are blessed to partner with Christ Community Lutheran School. When faith is taught at home, at church and at school it is a powerful combination. Our Glendale/CCLS families have wonderful children. Hunter and Savannah Lane were just here this week in the youth room for a Girls Scouts meeting. Their mom, Candace, hosted a Glendale Police officer to talk to them about Police work and safety. Savannah loves to play hide and seek with her friends at church. Hunter and his dad, Justin, are into Boy Scouts and making things. Silas Renschler became a member a year ago when his mom married Derek Don and they joined our church. Silas is a huge sports fan and he comes up with lots of questions to stump his pastor. He also loves playing in the Glendale Lutheran Fantasy baseball league. Landon Climer has been blessed to live with his mom, Kelly, and his aunt Lauren. Until recently, his grandparents were staying with them as well. Landon loves CCLS and playing baseball. Gwendolyn and her parents Josh and Nikki Boehme have been coming Saturday nights to worship. Gwendolyn is at the CCLS Middle School and will be starting confirmation next year. We are combining our confirmation class with Concordia, Kirkwood. Gwendolyn is a big reader and just started playing golf for CCLS. Adie and Thomas Sowers are the youngest of our CCLS students/members. Their mom and dad are James and Johanna. James is church treasurer and Johanna is a Clayton Middle School teacher.
Let’s not forget our CCLS teachers who are members. Janet Leet is principal over the Webster Groves campus. She is a huge blessing to them and us. Marsha Ladd is a teacher at that campus as well. Her enthusiasm and faithfulness are a joy. Ann Jonas works with the babies at the Glendale campus. I’m a little biased but I think she’s the best. She is a mentor to the young teachers and a guide for new parents. Thank God for these gifts from God.
