Glimpses of Glendale
Glendale Lutheran Church Newsletter
May 27, 2021
Last week in church I explained about The Acts Alliance, our connection to ten Lutheran churches that desire to be unified through sharing our stories of faith and life. I’m looking for five individuals who would be willing to be interviewed on camera to share their Glendale Lutheran story. There are only a few questions. Here are my answers; what are yours?

First Name? Scott. How long have you been at your church? Almost four years! How did you initially get connected? Why did you start coming? Why did you stay? Glendale contacted me for an interview and I immediately felt a connection to the call committee. We took the call because we believed this could be the place for us for a long time. We stay because we love the people here and they love us. What is a story that demonstrates how you have been served by this church? When my daughter got Covid, an elder, Mike Toney offered his house to me. I will never forget that hospitality. What is God doing through your church? People are cherished and refreshed through the Gospel. We share that hope with each other, CCLS, 12 step groups and anyone else God sends our way.

Here are some questions kids can ask: What do you like about church? What is your favorite thing about church? What are the people at church like?

You can answer these question on social media and post them with the hastag #TheActsAlliance where other people can see them. Or sit down with me for a few minutes after church and I’ll record you. Glendale is a great place to experience Jesus.

Upcoming Voters' Meetings

The Leadership Council is calling two Voters’ Meetings to take place in the Family Life Center immediately after the services on June 6, 2021, and June 27, 2021. The agenda for the June 6, 2021, meeting will include a first reading of the 2021-2022 Church Budget, a request to approve updates to our Bequest Fund Policy, and requests for the voters to approve several bequest fund expenditures. On June 27, 2021, the Leadership Council will request voter approval for the Budget. Please make sure to mark these dates in your calendar so you can attend and ask any questions you may have. Copies of the proposed updated Bequest Fund Policy are available in the back of the sanctuary for those who are interested, or electronically here.
Former Fieldworker Rev. Lloyd Stuhr

Rev. Lloyd Stuhr, who served GLC as a fieldworker in 2005-2007, is retiring from the ministry. Rev. Stuhr was widowed in 2014 when his wife Twila passed away. His new wife, Violet, is putting together a memory book in celebration of his years of ministry, and is asking for any remembrances anyone may have of her husband's time here. Please send them to violet.althage@gmail.com or Violet Stuhr, Anderson Electric, 4526 S 139th St., Omaha NE 68137. If you have additional questions, please contact the Michelle in the church office. Thank you!
