Jesus - article by Joel Hempel
We know his name and the story of his birth, but do we know Jesus – who he is and who he wants to be for each of us? Jesus was born to be our life, our hope, our eternity. Born for us, he lived for us, sacrificed for us. Died For us. Do you know Jesus? He knows you. Do you know him as the Savior he is? And the Lord he wants to be in your life? Do you know, do you believe his name is above all names?* Every knee shall bow at the name of Jesus, it is written.* But knees remain unbent. Will we bow – if not outwardly, then inwardly? Inwardly now, then maybe outwardly later . . . when courage becomes our mentor. To what other god would a wise person look for life and hope? To what other god would one seek well-being? Who else promises to be our Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace?* Jesus! Jesus! Do you love him? He loves you. Will you serve him? He serves you. Will you trust him? He entrusts you with his love and with his good news of great joy.* Jesus. Say his name. Do you feel at home with it? You are his home – or he wants you to be. Jesus: Born to die. Born to destroy death. Born to live! He lives for us! He lives in us. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you! *Philippians 2:9-11; Isaiah 9:6: Luke 2:10 |
