Faith Formation Ministry
One Family Bible Class
This week we look at the Transfiguration of Christ from Matthew 17:1-9. At the Transfiguration, Jesus' glory was unveiled before the disciples. Today, His glory is unveiled for us in the Word, in the water of Baptism, and in the bread and wine of His Holy Supper. In heaven, we, too, shall see Him in all of His glory.
Stewardship Sentence
Acts 1:11 "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven." Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ is ascended - and Christ will come again. We live our lives in this world in the sure confidence of the world to come. We live as people who know our Lord Jesus - and who know that He is coming back. This makes all the difference in how we approach our stewardship and care of the things of this world.

Congratulations to Our Confirmands
We thank the Lord for the faith he has given these young men and women. They all did a fine job with their faith essays, answering questions on Share the Faith Night, and confessing their faith in the one true God on Confirmation Sunday. Continue to keep Layton Wille, Luke Schultz, Grace Ortstadt, Lillian Conger, Sarah Skouby, Brian Skouby, Abbie Schultz, and Miles Sauer in your prayers.

Calling All Crafters!
We will be hosting another craft fair this fall on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M All kinds of crafts are needed to make the fair a success. If you have a special talent that you would like to showcase, here is your chance. All money's collected from the sale will be used for the repair of the organ. We understand that this repair will require the removal of all the pipes to get to the problem area. If you plan to donate to the fair please let the Nifty Knitters and the Clever Crocheters know what you have in mind. Place your ideas for donations in Sally Dobrunz's box. Thanks in advance for your donations.

Rummage Sale--Save the Date!
It is getting close to time for our annual rummage sale. Items can be brought to the gym beginning on Sunday, June 19. Look for a volunteer sign-up sheet to be posted on the kiosk soon.

Membership Class
Interested in becoming a member of Glendale Lutheran Church? Or are you already a member and just want to brush up on basic doctrine and teaching? A four week membership class will begin on Sunday, May 8 during the Bible class hour (beginning approximately 10:30 a.m. following the church service). We will meet in room 211 (the corner meeting room upstairs with the preschool). Child care will be provided if needed. Contact Pastor Wise with questions.

Children's Worship Materials
We are looking for someone to take charge of the children's worship materials at the back of the church. This would entail periodically checking the bags to ensure each is stocked with paper, crayons, etc. If you are interesting in serving this way, please contact the church office.

Community Events
Glendale Jazzfest
You are invited to attend the 17th annual Glendale Jazz fest, coming up on Friday, May 27th at Glendale City Hall (424 N. Sappington Road). This year's performers will be Coco Soul, one of the best known vocalists in St. Louis, and the full 18-member St. Louis Big Band performing its tribute to Frank Sinatra in honor of his 100th birthday. There will be no shortage of delicious food, with Westwood Catering, Russo's Trucktoria, Seoul Taco food truck, Vitale's Deli, Gel ato di Riso, and BSA Troop 360 all having food and beverages for sale. Additionally, through the cooperation and support of Kirkwood School District, parking will be available at both North Glendale Elementary (Kirkham and Sappington) and the Kirkwood Early Childhood Center (Lockwod and Sappington). Thanks to Cardinal Ritter Senior Services, shuttles will run between both parking lots and Jazz Fest throughout the event.
LHSS Spring Choir Concert
The choirs of Lutheran South will present their Spring Concert on Friday evening, May 13, in the Kuhlmann Center at the school on Tesson Ferry Road.
