Faith Formation Ministry
One Family Bible Class
This week we study John 10:1-18, Jesus as our Good Shepherd. Because of sin, we face physical and spiritual danger in this world. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, guards and protects us from sin, death, and the power of the devil, feeding us through His Word and Sacraments to keep our faith strong.
Stewardship Sentence
Luke 16:19 - "There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day." This is often called the story of "The Rich Man and Lazarus." But it should really be called the story of "The Two Rich Men and Lazarus." The other rich man in this story is Abraham. Obviously, these two men used the gift of riches that God gave them in very different ways. The life and decisions of Abraham flowed from faith; the rich man's life and choices flowed from disbelief and self-centeredness. So Abraham was kind and generous, reflecting his trust in a kind and generous God. And the rich man....well, you saw what happened to him and what god he served.

Pennies for Pipes
The Pipes are calling! It seems that the time has come for the "semi-centennial" (every 50 years or so), check-up (lubricating) of the organ pipes, which has been scheduled for July of this year. In an effort to help defray some of this expense, we will place a large jar on the table in the back of the Sanctuary in an effort to collect "loose change" or those pennies from heaven to help achieve this goal. Apparently this endeavor is terribly labor intensive, so in a small way we can all contribute to this expense. Thank you to all young and old for your help.

Host Families Needed
Friends in Christ,
Is there a family in your congregation who comes to mind as the perfect host family for an international student? Are they a family who will welcome a high school student, enjoy the challenge of hosting and nurturing a student, and share the Gospel message?
As the international student program at Lutheran North and Lutheran South expands to include a homestay element alongside our dorm program, we are asking you to help us find families who are willing to host these students in their homes. To identify potential host families for international students, we have partnered with LPI Learning. LPI manages our home stay program, matching international students with families and providing the support needed during the hosting year. To encourage this initiative, LPI is now offering $500 to churches that connect interested host families to LPI Learning.
Please encourage your families to contact LPI by clicking here, or by calling Jessica Pignataro at (203) 680-9982. Families should mention their church's name to make their church eligible for the $500 incentive. Only families that complete the registration process and become hosts of an international student will earn the incentive. Hosting an international student is a life-changing experience. With your help, we hope to also give an international student the chance to have their lives changed by God by receiving a Lutheran education here in St. Louis.
In Christ, Tim Hipenbecker President Lutheran High School Association
