Pastor Scott's Message
How great was last Sunday at Glendale? I was so proud of our church for being such gracious hosts to our CCLS families. I saw members moving to unfamiliar pews in order to give others their seat. I noticed people giving up their bulletin to accommodate the 230 in worship. Janet Leet once again taught a wonderful children's lesson and didn't spill any mud. Some people at other churches I know avoid worship when school families come. Not us. The sanctuary had a wonderful feeling of love and warmth.
It was great to see so many CCLS supporters from other congregations. Many CCLS board members, teachers from other campuses and staff lent their presence. Many of the Glendale campus teachers came to watch their kids sing to Jesus.
I loved witnessing all of the kids making the sign of the cross, Bible verse motions and pointing at the pulpit. But I cherish even more that you joined in the fun. You are a special congregation and those CCLS families noticed. God was here and He was working. We had a family request baptism following the service.
Thank you to everyone who helped with the breakfast. Sue Schultz did a wonderful job organizing. The gym was loud with laughter, conversation and play. Those sounds are a joyful noise to the Lord. They are as beautiful as any choral piece. They are as much sounds of worship as anything we do in the sanctuary. I thank the Lord for orchestrating CCLS Sunday.
Daily Bible Readings
Lenten Pot Luck Dinners
Pot Luck Dinners will be begin on February 21 (no dinner on Ash Wednesday, February 14). Because we will be gathering before Lenten services, our time frame will be:
  • 5:00pm-5:30pm -- Fellowship
  • 5:30pm-6:30pm -- Dinner
  • 6:30pm -- Worship service

See you on February 21 and 28, and March 7, 14, and 21!

Birthday Bags and Meal Kits - Community Service Project
GLC and CCLS are joining together for the 3rd year to bring joy to a child and their family on his/her birthday. Operation Food Search (OFS) will distribute the bags to agencies that work with families who would not be able to afford a birthday party and surprises for their children without our help. Please consider putting together the Birthday Bag(s) and the Meal Kit(s) during February and placing completed bags on the floor near the box in the foyer by March 2, 2018. Recognizing this takes a bit of work, equally good alternatives are to purchase some of the pieces for either the party or meal bag and place them in the box at the entrance to the church OR give a cash donation to the church secretary, Michelle, Marcia Hempel (GLC) or Jessica Berner (CCLS). We will use the cash to fill in missing pieces in bags on March 3 when we gather to check bags for completion. WHATEVER YOU CONTRIBUTE WILL BE A BIG HELP. THANK YOU.
Nursery Volunteers Needed
The GLC nursery is in need of more volunteers to serve in a rotation with the few dedicated people we already have. Please contact Michelle in the office or Tracey Ortstadt if you're interested in joining the rotation!
