Pastor Scott's Message Exciting News! We are starting a brand new ministry at Glendale Lutheran, Holy Yoga. The first one will be Saturday, February 9th from 9-10am in the Family Life Center. But let me share with you how this came about. At the end of last year, a Glendale preschool teacher, Cathy Frazier, came to me with the idea. She said that she was trained in Holy Yoga and she would love to teach classes through the church. Cathy is a lifelong Lutheran whose family is in Illinois. She used to live in Arizona and she got into Yoga. She loved the emphases on a healthy mind and body. It got kind of expensive, $20 a session, so she started looking for other yoga studios. She found Holy Yoga which combined her Christian faith with yoga. I started researching it at www.Holyyoga.net. Their purpose statement says, "Holy Yoga is experiential worship created to deepen people's connection to Christ. Our sole purpose is to facilitate a Christ-honoring experience that offers an opportunity to believers and non-believers alike to authentically connect to God through His Word, worship and wellness." I've heard objections from some Christians that yoga is inherently connected to eastern religions, but I think that is nonsense. Why should they have a monopoly on stretching, breathing and meditation? When Yoga is bathed in scripture and prayer to Jesus then it is transformed into a new creation. Lutherans should know that they have the freedom in Christ to love yoga! This is a great opportunity for us to connect Glendale with the preschool community and our neighborhood. We are inviting CCLS teachers (we have over 25) to come and try it. I have a dozen church members who have said that they can't wait to be a part of it. I can feel God working through his people. Bring a yoga mat and $5. It only seems fair that we compensate Cathy for her time and training. Invite friends. Most people will be beginners so don't be intimidated. Grace has agreed to babysit for the first one. The sessions will be every other Saturday 9-10am and every Tuesday from 4-5pm. Pray for this new endeavor God has brought to us. If God has placed a new ministry on your heart, share it with me. |

Hopeful Living Devotionals A number of you have asked about the current Hopeful Living devotional booklets. Unfortunately, due to some confusion regarding our account with the distributor, we will not be receiving the January-March issue, but we should be receiving the April-June ones in early to mid March as usual. Thank you for your patience and understanding! |
