Glimpses of Glendale Glendale Lutheran Church Newsletter | | | Pastor Scott's Message
Last Sunday I shared a concern for a new CCLS aide and Glendale. Her name is Kaley. She has a 4 month old daughter, Kyra. A few weeks ago she put Kyra to bed and turned off the light in their basement bedroom. When she woke up there was a foot of black water surrounding them. The city made a mistake and now she had to throw out all of their baby stuff. I gave them a rocking chair and a crib from the church. CCLS donated a high chair. This week members gave money, cards, diapers, a swing and clothes. Kaley was very touched. If you have any gently used clothes for a 4 month old girl who weighs 15-20 lbs please give them to the church office. We are also looking for a dresser, more diapers and a play pen. The generosity of this congregation always makes me smile.
CCLS began their school year recently and this is a good time to introduce you to the teachers. Beth Kiessling is our new 4 year olds teacher and campus coordinator. She communicates with me concerning chapel, and church and school events. She informs Jerry of property and custodial issues. She is a member of Concordia Kirkwood and has taught at the Kirkwook campus for 14 years. She has been a huge blessing to Glendale already. Her husband is a pastor and the head of the LCMS youth ministry department.
Tina is the three year olds teacher. Her classroom is opposite the elevator on the second floor. My Grace was an aide for her so I know her well. She is enthusiastic and patient with the kids. She leads dance parties, devotions and lessons. Her aide Erica just got back from surgery so keep her in your prayers. Kelsey was an aide last year and this year teaches the ones. Her classroom is also upstairs. She is doing a great job. Jana and my wife, Ann team up in one of the infant rooms. Kaley is their aide. The babies get plenty of snuggles and hugs. Across the hallway is Stephanie, also with infants. She is due to have her first baby any day now. Steph has been at CCLS Glendale since the beginning and grew up next door to the Butterfields.
Down by the Gym are the two classrooms. Jen and Laura are a dynamic duo with the twos; Ali and Marcia bless the ones. Jen had a baby this summer. Her little one is upstairs with Steph. Laura Mars used to work at the historical institute at Concordia Seminary. Ali and Marcia have all boys and one girl. Pray for the girl. The CCLS teachers are the best I have ever witnessed. They show the love of Christ to their kids. We can be proud that they are a part of our campus. | | | Sunday, September 8 - 9:15 am - Worship

| | | | Women's Tuesday Morning Bible Study | | Women's Tuesday Morning Bible Study starts up again on Tuesday, September 10th at 9:15am. We hope you’ll join us as we study the "Holy Spirit" and… "fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you…" (2 Timothy 1:6). Contact Jeanne Clark (821-0522) or Carol Froesel (822-1365) with questions. | | Nominations for Church Council and Elder | Members of Glendale Lutheran – It is that time of year again, as members complete their terms. We will have two openings on our Church Council and one possible opening for Elder. If anyone knows a member who would make a great addition to GLC as an Elder or Council member, please make their name known to Pastor Scott or any current Council member. We would like the opportunity to nominate them for an upcoming election. | | On October 5, Hands On Kirkwood will hold its 9th Annual “Free Winter Clothing Store.” Items to collect include coats, hats, gloves, sweaters, boots, and jeans for men, women and especially children sizes. We are also collecting toys, bicycles, children's books and diapers along with children's new socks and underwear. Please make sure all items are clean and in good condition. This event provides winter clothing items for all ages to those in need within our community free of charge. It continues to grow each year. Last year we were able to bless close 400 people with over 14,000 clothing items plus many toys, books and bicycles when they visited our “free store.” Please help this event continue to grow by donating items to the collection box in the hallway.
