Pastor Scott's Message This Sunday is All Saints' day. It is a day we set aside to thank the Lord for all of the Saints present, past and future. It is also a time to remember those who have died in the Lord over the last year. Here is the list of Glendale members who died since last All Saints Day. Jim Johnson Klaus Kattentidt Wally Schramm Debbie Toney Frank Vanderwal Al Winkler
On Sunday, after the sermon, you will have the opportunity to come up to the lectern and speak the name of a loved one who has died. It doesn't have to be in the last year. It is a way for us to proclaim that we trust Jesus with the fate of those who are precious to us. Pastor Rodney Wise died over a year ago but we can reverently say his name. We still trust that God is caring for him. The same is true for your parent or grandparent or anyone else who died. Come to the podium; say their name and we will ring a bell. The bell means that we remember their faith and hope in the resurrection. It is appropriate that our 75th anniversary celebration is the week after All Saints' day. Our congregation's experience is put into perspective when we consider the length and breadth of the people of God. 75 years is just a blink of the eye. Our total membership over the generations is just a drop in the ocean of the faithful. Yet, God loves Glendale Lutheran church. He took care of us in 1943, he takes care of us today and he will provide for us unto eternity. |
